Meet The Instructor

Avelia Stewart is a People and Culture executive, strategist, and social impact advocate with over 15 years’ experience in human resources, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and organizational transformation across the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Shaped by global experience in the United States and Canada, she holds degrees from Howard University, MBA-level coursework from Vanderbilt University, and an Applied Human Resource Management (AHRM) certificate from the University of Manitoba, alongside executive credentials in DEI, Sustainability Leadership, and Reconciliation Education. A dual-certified HR professional (CPHR, SHRM-SCP), Avelia has led inclusive culture strategies, built capacity-building frameworks, and mentored emerging leaders. Guided by her mission to break down systemic barriers and create equitable pathways, she founded Student Catalyst Gateway to equip students with coaching, equity-focused resources, and practical tools to be both career-ready and future-focused.
